Yes, I don't like the fact that they have to use cheaper materials and finishing on this beautiful design ...

In all seriousness, the car doesn't look that bad based on those pictures from Tokyo Motor Show. Hope the specs are good!
Initial D Stage 5 is in the works?

probably the best Toyota design... ever? Then again, Celica looked awesome at its time as well.

- 80% possibility that the car will be called celica (at least in europe), it is not approved or decided, but that is most likely.

- Objective: bring the youth back into the Toyota fold

- No more than 25.5k Euros for the NA version.

- The motor is mounted behind the front axis!!!! (FMR like the LFA). It could have been mounted more forward, and gotten more interior room (especially in the back), but they preferred the FMR dynamic to just FR

-Mounting the motor there has allowed the front to be extrememly low, and this will be re-enfornced in the subaru version.

-The platform is actually new!!! As stated before, the suspension components are and evolution of the imprezza's suspension.

- Turbo versions will come (80% guaranteed)............. If the market demands it. The Subie supposedly will have a turbo version, or be turbo form the get go

-Contrary to other reports, all probability indicates that the Subie version WILL INDEED be awd.

-Gear box, 6 speeds, manual.

-The Subaru version will look completely different than the Toyota.

-The Toyota will show up in europe in 2011, Subbie 2012.

That is all for now.

Some interesting info there MR F1. I have heard that the suspension is an evolution of the Impreza and Legacy setups. Supposedly Toyota heavily redesigned the suspension. Initial rumors said the car was using a modified Legacy platform, but it could in-fact be an all-new platform.

So they are going to detune the engine considerably, on purpose just for your post to make any sense ? The boxer engine in the production car will have direct injection.

The absolute minimum amount of power this car will have will be roughly 160 HP. Many are saying it could be close to 200 HP.

So now anything that looks great from Toyota *must* become a Lexus? Let's get real here guys.

Quite frankly, this car does not fit many of the principles and ideals Lexus stands for.

The production FT-86 will be built according to a very strict cost/price limit. The aim of the car is to be a fun-to-drive, minimum hassle, straightforward RWD sports car. It is also meant to be very affordable.

^ I agree that not everything cool in Toyota should be a Lexus, but I would like to think that a cool Toyota means something cool for Lexus as well (though not the same car obviously)

All the incredible technology and innovations on the LFA were not developed for nothing you know . The IS F has some innovations and technology that no Toyota model currently has. Expect to see some of the LFA technology/innovations to filter down to Lexus models before they ever filter to mainstream Toyota models.

We should all be happy about what the LFA means for future Lexus products, and that is new technology and new innovations. It also means more exciting products !

Wonder what they will do with the tC? I guess it will remain FWD and a cheaper coupe?

Yup, it's also due to be replaced. Rumor goes that they'll base it on the Fuse and Hako concepts.
