Nice write up.

I plan on taking a road trip to Cali next week and I will make sure to check my Lower Ball Joints.
Chances are that I will be buying New Lower Ball Joints and following your write up. I don't want to chance the LBJ breaking on me.

That's a great write-up. You can also "borrow" these tools from your local auto store. Ask for the front end service kit. It comes with everything you need and it's free!

Just finished replacing lower ball joints and tie rods. Got them shipped from Sewell. With discount 226.00. Took 90 minutes. Must have a quality pitman arm tool. Not Harbor Freight garbage. Clamps wanted to spread, before stud came out. Had 92000 on odometer. Much tighter steering feel. Will be safe and get alignment next week. Post and pictures helped much. Although pictures just stopped working a few days ago. Maybe saved 2-400. Yeah Baby.

Swollio: you don't need pictures i just did mine last week and when i went back to check the instructions on the forum the pics were gone.

But it is really easy(easier to do with a buddy though). All you have to do is take of the tire and then behind the rotor there is two 17?mm bolts that secure the BJ to the rotor(FYI once you remove those two bolts the whole rotor arm can be pulled away from the car this will give you a little more room to remove the other bolts this is were your buddy comes into play) then there are two nuts that look like crowns and they have pins through them, remove the pins and then remove the two nuts (preferable with a breaker bar) then attach the pitman puller to the exposed bolts, you have to wedge the pitman puller in between the rubber grommets on the BJ so that it fits snug against the bolts then they should pop off. Then swap in the new BJ's and put everything back together.

Does anyone have pictures of this DIY? The pictures have expired from photobucket. I would like to get this done sooner than later. Thanks in advanced.
