Anyone have this done? Any issues introduced by having this done? If you had smell, did it go away?

I thought this was a rerouting of the drain. Supposedly the GS has a different type of drain for the evaporator box, not as simple as the GS of earlier years. I was told this drain tube can pop off easily and the result is drainage into the cabin and under the carpet. The TSB I think is for a reconfigured drain that won't pop off or doesn't pop off so readily.
I don't think this alleviates the smell as bacterial and fungal growth still occurs in the close confines of the evaporator fins.
But if someone has access to the actual TSB, please post up a PDF copy.

Check my post # 2 from another thread.

Its very inconvenient during the repair phase. My car was in the dealer for at least 3 weeks. But my mold/mildew was also the worst they had ever seen.
As for the smell from the AC unit, thats two separate issues and areas in question. Steviej covered it with regards to the smell coming from the ac, and the link above covers the drain issue. BOTH have the same smells. Its mildew/mold that you're smelling.
While the TSB I had done took care of the wet carpet, the smell from the ac is still there. Haven't smelled it recently because of the weather and lack of AC use, but i'm sure once I run the ac again it will come back. I'll probably take care of it next summer.

Okay,
I foo bar’ed this a little:
They stated they replaced the A/C evaporator not the drain plug/packing listed in the TSB I included. They stated there is a TSB for replacing the AC evaporator. I’m waiting for the TSB number. They said the drain was in good shape and I do not think they replaced it. Not sure why they would not go ahead and replace a simple part since they have the dash and ac already out and it has a possibility of failing or getting clogged.

Trying to find it.
