Windshield wipers will not turn off.
Everything was working fine....until I was driving home in the rain from work. I pulled in the driveway and went to turn off the wipers and they just kept going back and forth. They won't turn off unless you turn the ignition off.
I'm pretty sure its a faulty wiper switch thats causing this pita problem. Does this sound like the wiper switch is bad to you? If not what else is likely to cause the wipers to continously run. I guess I will just have to cut the power to them for now, use rain-x and hope it doesn't rain too hard.

It might not be a wiper switch, but maybe a short somewhere that causes the wipers to run. Have you lowered your car?
I remember it was pouring rain, and some water got into my miata. An hour later the neighbors were calling me to turn the horn off

The other "funny" thing is that... when I tried to turn the wipers off with the wiper switch, I found that they will turn off... just a few minutes after actually moving the switch to the off position. That really confused me. I will let you all know if anything else strange happens and I will try checking the wiring. Thanks

My NX wipers came on randomly. I took the car to Lexus, spent 400 on other misc. stuff and they couldn’t fix the issue.
Now, I am $400 lighter and still have wipers going…

In general I can't know what your dealer tried to fix your issue but in our 90's-era models the issue usually comes down to an old style relay or faulty switch on the wiper control stalk on the side of the steering column.
In a Lexus NX the wiper circuit *could* be set up as a very simple 12V relay, multi-speed motor and multi-mode switch that enables/disables the circuit's function directly... OR... your model could use a CANBUS style system to have a bespoke wiper ECU or multi-function ECU control the wiper functions. In that case the wiper stalk switch control would merely be a user input for the ECU's computer so as to *request* that this computer enable, disable or vary the speed of the wipers. See the difference?
Not being familiar with your Lexus model I don't know which setup it is but I would not be surprised if it is the latter.... which would suggest they may need to diagnose the ECU that includes control for the wiper functions or possibly just the control stalk switches on your steering column.
Again, I recommend posting your query in the Lexus NX sub-forum but I also recommend quizzing your dealer on what they tried that ultimately failed or to just take the vehicle to another Lexus dealer. Clearly the technicians who tried to sort out your issue didn't know how to diagnose the circuit or component failure very well.
