Sunroof install help please
Ok I've got a Sunroof out of a very, very low miles 2000 SC400. I want to install it in my 1999 SC400. It came with the complete plastic bed that it sits in containing the rail tracks and everything.
Couple of questions.
1. Can you just replace the glass w/o intalling the whole thing ?
2. My car is Black interior, and this one was tan, so the trim and inside cover are different colors. Can they be changed out or is this one complete unit that cannot be broken down ?
3. Does anyone have a pic of the diagram breakdown they can post.
4. How do you install it ? I searched and found nothing.
Thanks

Yes you can remove the glass only. I did it just now
-Get into your car and look up at the sunroof
-Notice the plastic trim that runs around the glass. (these should be tan for you)
-The end pieces that run parallel to the door are removable.
-Use a flat head screwdriver and pop those 2 pieces out to reveal 3 bolts on each side
-Remove all six, push up lightly on the glass and it should be removed

For anyone who has a wind noisey sunroof :
I took some black duct tape. Folded it in half suck it to itself and then wegeded it up in the rubber sunroof glass seal as far as I could get it. I then cut off the tape that was hanging down from end to end. Put some silicone on the rubber and closed the roof a few times. This dramatically reduced the wind noise by 75 - 80 % better !
But I still wanted it completely quite. So a searched the web and found a used Sunroof from a 2000 SC with only 27k miles at a used parts place. They sold it to me for $ 50. That's why I'm replacing my old Glass roof. Problem was they sent me the whole sunroof assy. . Guess thats good tho cause I have every spare sunroof part, motor, tracks, shade cover and so on.
