This looks awesome man. I can't wait to try this myself. I'm a complete newb to wiring and such so I have a couple questions. Is a B-Cut just stripping the protection away from the wires themselves? And on the 4 SPDT relays, did you just sodder all the 85s together and all the 86's together.
strip the insulation from each of the 2 wires and separate them a little bit so u can work with them.
Also, where can an "iPod dock to RCA output cable" be purchased?
no, i was unable to find any cable that did this and it seems that the only way i get it to charge would be if i made my own cable, which is a big project that i just dont want any part of
I guess thats true if you have the output volume on it turned all the way down with the setup you've made. I think I've fried my battery on it from using it soo much and always having it plugged in. Mine lasts for ~3 hours volume 2/4 to 3/4.

output volume will make no difference since the sound u pull from the ipod is coming through the dock, meaning its preamp sound. thats why the volume on the ipod has no effect on the volume through the stereo.

Did my own version, thanks Puredrifter for the help though, really easy once you figure it out . Heres a pic of it
Its the plug at the end . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=urOFqTN8NhwVid of performance.
Now all we need is a schematic for an auto-sensing turn on ic to trigger a single
4pdt relay -- I'm looking into doing this with a transistor that will see the 25mv ~ or so from the ipod or other mp3 player being produced when the player is in between songs-- (otherwise it would auto-switch back to the changer betweens songs) --
I'll be measuring the output at full volume from the headphone jack during and between songs-- then choosing an appropriate value transistor to trigger a single 4pdt relay to make this whole process automatic--
I wouldn't even be attempting this whole switching setup, but after removing my cd changer and re-installing it several times it's decided to start working again mysteriously on it's own...
Keep up the good work-- I'm right behind ya-- though I wish I had an Ipod now instead of my Mrobe 500i -- it will only last about 6hrs before needing a charge-- and olympus hasn't released a car charger that I know about-- (that's just splitting hairs though)
