Lexus NX Selling Too Fast, Will Likely Outstrip Supply
Lookout RX, cause the NX is hot on your heels in the race for America’s Top Model. Uh, America’s Top Lexus Model, that is.
The new small CUV is selling like hot cakes, if those are still selling. So much so, that the NX may outstrip demand.
According to WardsAuto:
The U.S. has been allotted 40,000 units of the NX for 2015. With 9,111 sold through March the NX could zoom past that limit, but the cap is firm, Lexus executive Jeff Bracken says.
The “problem,” if you can call it one, is that the NX isn’t just crushing sales here in America, but the whole world is going bananas for the small CUV. And with 89 markets worldwide, that means standing firm is indeed in order.
“It would be inappropriate for me to suggest we could secure more than 40,000 this calendar year,” Jeff Bracken, group vice president, general manager-Lexus Div., told WardsAuto at the New York International Auto Show.
That’s right, fellow Lexus enthusiasts, you know you want one, you know you’ve been thinking about it, so buy now, while the getting is good, before a less worthy suitor steals your steed.
Don’t mess around with a firm cap, those things are rigid.
While immutable caps do sound daunting, the good news is that the limited popularity of the NX means more people are opting for the last of its generation RX. Instead of taking %5 of the RX’s sales, as was the initial forecast, the NX is actually contributing to them. Man, there could be worse problems, right?
