Next IS Sheds Camoflauge?
Not too long ago we reported that a heavily camouflaged prototype which could be the next IS was spotted driving the streets of SoCal. Just recently the guys at Gmotors.co.uk tipped us with new photos of what could be the Next IS with less of a disguise. The photos show the swirly vinyl camouflage that is supposed to throw off autofocus mechanisms in modern day cameras. Obviously that’s not the case as these photos reveal a lot more than what we saw prior.
If we take a closer look, you will notice the obvious. The 6 spoke wheels are actually the 16″ wheels that are currently available on the 2nd Generation IS. In this photo below, you can see the body line of the rocker panels swoop up into the rear bumper & taillights, reminiscent of what we are seeing on the LF-CC concept. The taillights look to be an LED type but take on a more integrated shape which flows nicely with the rear bumper and quarter panel border.
Taking a look at the front and sides, LED running lamps appear below the projector headlamps. It’s uncertain if this particular vehicle has fog lamps but we hope Lexus doesn’t discount them across the line, unlike the current GS F SPORT. The front upper grille returns to a horizontal bar type, a departure from the waterfall style which graced the front end of the 2nd Generation IS for many years.
We have yet to see what the inside of this car looks like but we are certain it will feature the remote touch telematics found in more recent Lexus models. We hope to see the wide 12.3″ info screen which typically houses the navigation maps, radio, HVAC controls.
It is reported that the 2013 North American International Auto Show is going to be the place to be, as we’re anticipating the arrival of the next Intelligent Sedan!
