You know you’ve made the big time when you’re tweets become news. Akira Iida might not be that well known in the states, but he’s probably the best known LFA driver there is. It makes sense then that he’d be the first one to leak photos of a new LFA race car.

Considering this is just a tweet, we’re assuming this’ll be Iida’s upcoming race car for Le Mans. That might not seem terribly exciting for the normal car fan, but it’s actually a pretty big deal.

The Le Mans endurance racing series is the premier sports car racing series around the world. It wouldn’t be the first time the LFA has participated, however, as it has run the 24 hours of Le Mans before. Considering Lexus’ major push towards being more enthusiast oriented, it only makes sense for them to dive into the fray with a dedicated LFA racer. And Iida would be the perfect person to pilot it.
Who knows? We might even see it in the ALMS series here in the states, rubbing shoulders with Corvettes and Ferraris in 2014. In any case, we’re sure to see it on the track soon.
