Hypotheticals

Toyota and Lexus - the automaker's luxury arm - share quite a bit in terms of the vehicles that compose the lineup of each. Typically, Toyota models have their own Lexus counterpart, a formula that saves development costs and has many other benefits, such as consistency and reliability. However, there is no Lexus version of the Toyota Fortuner - a Hilux SUV, if you will - so that's precisely what Mumbai, India-based shop Autorounders is creating itself.

Total Transformation

Autrounders specializes in converting Fortuners into Lexus clones, typically those of the first generation, which lasted from the 2004-2015 model years. As we can see here, those SUVs are a bit dated in terms of exterior styling, blending in with everything else on the road. However, the right body kit totally transforms the ute's presence.

Visual Upgrade

That process starts up front, where the stock fascia is replaced with Lexus' signature spindle grille, a hood scoop, air intakes, and of course, some sleeker headlights to complete the look. From this angle, the visual upgrade is pretty extreme, in a good way.

Rear Portion

That look carries over to the rear, where we'll find new taillights, extra chrome, a revised bumper, and a roof spoiler. Capping off the look is a set of new Gunmetal Gray wheels and a fresh pearl white paint job.

Interior Overhaul

Autorounders doesn't just completely revamp the exterior of the Toyota SUV, either. It also upgrades the interior, giving it fresh leather with custom patterns, a second-gen Fortuner steering wheel (not a Lexus one, surprisingly), a large touchscreen, a 360-degree camera, and a pair of screens for rear seat occupants.

Nice Combination

The result of all that work is a pretty cool, vastly upgraded, and capable utility vehicle that lets owners ride around in total luxury - a compelling combination, indeed. Autorounders doesn't reveal how much these conversions cost, but for the right price, they certainly seem like a nice alternative to simply buying a comparable vehicle off a showroom floor.
