Rowen International Turns Lexus UX into Low Slung Street Machine

The Lexus UX isn't exactly an off-road menace, but you wouldn't think of it as a candidate for the low life, either. Until now.

Street Machine

While the Lexus UX isn't exactly intended to be an off-road machine, it is a crossover. Regardless, we never really imagined how good one could look if it was given the low, street machine treatment. Turns out, that look suits it perfectly. Because Japanese tuner Rowen International built this beauty, which was recently featured over at Forma Car, and it looks pretty darn amazing.

Slow Conversion

Rowen has long enjoyed a reputation for building slammed cars and wild body kits, things that have long been associated with cars. But they've slowly shifted their attention to SUVs in recent years as the 'utes have taken over. For those who once appreciated station wagons, this UX might just be the modern equivalent at this point.

Riding on Air

Thus, this UX features a full air suspension underneath, which is always nice for those who actually like to drive their cars. It also helps prevent that beautiful body kit from getting scratched up or caught on speed bumps and sloped driveways, which is obviously a good thing.

All About That Stance

That body kit includes a host of add-ons, including a massive rear diffuser and modified side skirts, to name a few. Custom forged wheels finished with silver-tinted spokes faces and matte-black bases sit tucked neatly under a set of contrasting wheel well trim, which breaks up the sea of glossy black paint.

Totally Transformed

Truthfully, we were blown away by just how natural all of this stuff looks on the UX. It completely transforms the look of the crossover from a higher-riding utility to a low-slung street machine with plenty of usable space. Perhaps we'll be seeing more of this in the future?

Next Big Thing?

At least, we certainly hope so. But in the meantime, you can catch the official debut of this particular build at the 2020 Tokyo Auto Salon, which kicks off on January 10. We imagine that it'll make as big an impression there as it did on us. Whether or not slammed crossovers become the next big thing in the world of auto customization remains to be seen, however.
