Additional Insight

Lexus' RX SUV has long been a popular choice in the segment, and for good reason. The stylish, luxurious, and comfortable ride is also quite utilitarian, offering up an all-in-one solution for families. So now that we've got a revised 2020 model to peruse, it's nice to gain some additional insight on the new RX courtesy of Cars.com.

Power To Spare

Overall, Cars.com calls the 2020 RX a "massive improvement" in a variety of areas. One of which is the power you get from its 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 295 hp and 268 lb-ft of torque. This refined engine "hustles" the RX down the road in a hurry while also delivering up to 20 miles-per-gallon in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

Cool Tech

The biggest news for the 2020 RX is, however, its fresh touchscreen infotainment system that consists of standard 8-inch and optional 12.3-inch units. "These screens make the RX so much easier to live with on a daily basis," Cars. com said. "The controls are clear and concise, with nice, big, easy-to-locate buttons — plus the system is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and avoids squashing icons into a corner of the screen like in some rival systems." There's even a convenient new smartphone slot, too.

Ride Quality

Lexus has always delivered a soft and supple ride, but Cars.com truly enjoyed the way the new RX handles various surfaces. "The suspension smooths over the rough pavement with ease, though it never feels too pillow-soft in how it keeps the RX under control. The RX lets you feel firmly in control as the miles melt away in comfort."

Classy Interior

The interior is likewise a very polished and luxurious product. "Step inside and you’ll find an interior filled with top-notch materials and soft-touch surfaces," Cars.com notes. "Nothing feels built to a cost-cutting budget, there are no cheap-looking switches or controls to ruin the elegant ambiance."

Look, No Hands

Many SUVs have them these days, but Cars.com still appreciates the new RX's hands-free tailgate. "With a simple swipe of your foot under the rear bumper, the cargo hatch swings open with refreshing consistency. Previously, the system required holding your hand over the rear Lexus badge to open the hatch — not exactly 'hands-free.'"

Few Niggles

Of course, the new RX isn't perfect. Cars.com had a few complaints, including the hard-to-reach touchscreen, lack of wireless phone charging, and the high cost of the F Sport package. But these are minor details, of course, and things that didn't dampen their excitement over Lexus' latest iteration of the RX.
