Looking Back

The current global pandemic has pretty much put the brakes on the 2020 car show season, including what would have been the 25th annual ToyotaFest. The largest West Coast gathering of Toyota vehicles is put on each year by the Toyota Owners and Restorers Club (TORC), and always has plenty of variety to offer, as well as lots of amazing Lexus builds. So even though we can't enjoy the massive event this year, we can take a look back at some cool builds from previous ToyotaFest gatherings courtesy of Super Street.

Wide Variety

ToyotaFest has been called everything from the "TORC" show to the "All ToyotaFest" over the years, but also includes plenty of Lexus and even Scion machines. And the diversity of these rides is staggering, representing everything from old school stock rides to full-blown restorations and customized-to-the-gills examples.

Hard to Replicate

As such, the ToyotaFest is almost like a history lesson or timeline, showing us the evolution of the automaker's 60 years of selling cars in the U.S. There are plenty of JDM rides to soak in as well, of course, providing attendees with a truly unique experience that's hard to replicate elsewhere.

Moving Around

ToyotaFest has changed locations a handful of times over the years, which isn't uncommon for such a long-running and fast-growing event. It all started out at the local city college in Long Beach, California before moving to the Queen Mary events park for several years, and then eventually putting down roots in 2017 at Marina Green Park on Shoreline Drive.

SoCal For Life

Southern California has remained ToyotaFest's home, however, for a very important reason - Toyota Motor Sales, its U.S.-based offices, and the Toyota USA Automobile Museum all used to be nearby in Torrance.

Growing Exponentially

Last year, roughly 600 cars attended the 24th annual ToyotaFest, and it has grown exponentially over the last nearly quarter-century. Unfortunately, Super Street's extensive photo collection of the event only goes back to 2005, but there's still plenty of gold here to soak in.

Moving On

It's always a bummer when a show gets canceled or postponed, particularly one as special as ToyotaFest. But with any luck, this pandemic will only be a one-year glitch, and we'll be back to scoping out gorgeous rides in the California sun in just a few more months.
