The RC F - Now with More Carbon!

As is, the Lexus RC F is already a pretty exciting car. The luxury performance coupe is technically a grand tourer, but it's also a sports car at heart. And arguably a muscle car as well, what with rear wheel drive and a naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8. But while we here in the states must make do with regular old bodywork, folks on the other side of the pond can opt for the RC F Carbon Edition. Which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like.

Unique Style

For around £8,000 (just a little more than $11,000), check the option box for an RC F Carbon Edition nets you a host of, well, carbon fiber parts. That's obviously a pretty good chunk of change, but you get a lot for your money, including a carbon fiber hood, roof, adjustable rear spoiler, and interior trim. Those bits give the already aggressive looking RC F a new sort of edge that's bound to grab anyone's attention driving down the road. And they also help the Carbon Edition weight in a full 22 pounds less than a regular RC F.

But Wait... There's More!

The Carbon Edition is about more than appearance, of course. You'll also get goodies including a standard torque vectoring system (a $4,800 option otherwise) that adds a good bit of responsiveness to the handling dynamics. Couple that with multiple driving modes, loads of safety tech, a digital speedo, and heated and cooled supportive seats, and you've got a grand tourer, indeed.

Luxurious (And Carbon) Insides

On the inside, Carbon Edition cars come with additional (yes) carbon fiber trim scattered along the interior. All Carbon models get the excellent 17-speaker Mark Levinson stereo in place of the regular 10-speaker Pioneer setup. Plus, Alcantara seats replace the usual leather to keep your hide planted while sliding around tight corners at speed.

But Is It Worth It?

So the real question, besides how do I convince my boss/spouse to let me move to Europe to buy one, as are all of these mods worth the price of admission? And the answer is, sure. If you want something that looks truly unique from all the other RC Fs on the road and you were planning on opting for the high-end stereo and torque vectoring rear anyway, the Carbon Edition makes absolute sense. Too bad Lexus won't sell you one here in the states!
