I wanted a bow too but was too excited to get the car so I forgot to ask for one. In hindsight, the bow would prob be long forgotten anyways. LOL

My car had the bow on it on the showroom floor, and I asked them to throw it in... but they wouldn't!

At both Lexus dealerships I was at while shopping for my IS the bows were not placed on any Lexus' (this was last November 25th and 26th, the first two days of the December to Remember sale). At the first dealership I saw the large red bow in a back room near my salesman's office. He said that was the only one they had, and it was for showroom display purposes only.

I really believe it depends on the dealership and possibly your saleperson...mine was all set to put a "Big Green Bow" on for me as I was originally going to pick it up on St Pattys Day!

The bow is for only when you take delivery of the car and its not yours to keep, the finance person told me the bows are really expensive.

The bows are $80. See http://www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2007/12/07/3148231.htm

Although finance mgrs and sales managers apparently like to lie about it -- presumably they can't help themselves. Post-sale a Sales Manager lied to me and said that no Lexus dealers let customers borrow a bow. This was from the self-proclaimed "largest Lexus dealer between Florida and New York" (there are probably many of those).

If you bring up thay you want to borrow a bow before the sale, and it isn't clear that you've already agreed to buy, they will probably fall over themselves agreeing to let you borrow the bow. If you bring it up after the sale, they will look at you like you are crazy for asking the question.

It's too bad -- allowing customers to simply borrow a bow for a day after the sale upon request would be such an easy low cost way for a Lexus dealer to make customers happy; but if they let their car saleman instincts take over and they play games about it and lie, they just give a bad post-sale experience that turns customers off.

Even Dodge put a bow on a van a friend bought for his wide a few years back for a Christmas present, and also delivered it to his garage Christmas Eve day so it would be there in the morning for her.

I got offered one last December when I got my car, but I didn't take it home with me:

The "Official Lexus Big Red Bow" was only for showroom purposes in the early years.
Due to popular demand, within the past few years Lexus started manufacturing them and sold them to Lexus dealers via parts department -which in turn makes the sales department "buy" them for customers. They're expensive - about $200 I think I remember.

Now there's lots of cheaper knock off's that dealers buy them from, which makes sense since the bow novelty wears off after one day.....

Unless you decide to have some extra fun with the bow.
