Tire Size Question - Please help
Hello,
I'd like some help on which tire size would be best for what I am looking for the most at the moment, which is ride comfort. Before I go into details, I've reviewed plenty of past thread on tire size recommendations. While they certainly helped, I thought I'd make my own post with a hope for at least few feed backs.
Here are sizes for my aftermarket wheels on 2IS (with F Sport shocks and springs, so slightly less than 1 inch drop):
19x8.5 ET38
19x9.5 ET45
I am no expert on wheel offsets, but I think my wheels have plenty space. At the moment, I have 235/35 on front and 275/30 on rear. I think these tire sizes are near perfect for my wheels. For the rears, if I go with 265/40 instead, would I end up with taller sidewall than 275/30? More importantly, will taller sidewall give me better ride comfort in that the car will not be as bumpy? Right now the car rides pretty bumpy (in LA) so I often make sure I am on the best road possible. Since narrower width may mean that the tire will stretch more, perhaps there will not be much difference between 275/30 and 265/40. Should I consider 265/45 to be able to feel the difference? Or perhaps 275/35 would be an easier choice?
Thank you for reading and helping!
