I've got a first-gen LS400 with the same stock wheels for its whole life. Previous owners did a number on it and now I be getting new wheels and tires.

The stocks are 205/65/15, and I'm looking into 225/60/16. The Tire Rack recommends 225/55 but they're either hard to find, or twice the price. I'd like to keep the car pretty much stock, so I'm wondering if the 225/60's will cause any rubbing or if it'll affect the ride quality a lot. If 225's would be a problem, would 215 be better?

 

twice the price? there are plenty of reasonably priced tires in 225/55-16

225/60 will be 4.5% larger diameter, and the speedometer will be off... keep in mind, you are going to want a V rated tire, which is definitely easier to find for a better price in 225/55-16...
