I'm in the process of purchasing a set of used Supra TT brakes from a supra forum member.
However, he states that there is a minor problem with it, AFTER he takes the money through Paypal.
Is it really 'minor' as he says? Here's a pm from him.

i wanted to check with you before sending them out, when i pulled the right caliper off, i found that it was leaking a small amount of fluid. it needs 2 small rubber O-rings that seal the 2 sides of the caliper. it's a very easy fix, just need to get the O-rings.

This is the perfect opportunity to get the calipers powder. It should cost $25 per caliper to powder coat plus sand blasting labor charge. The rebuild kit cost $17 from Champion Toyota in Tx.
ASk for Jeff Watson, 800-327-2087. He has great prices.
Tell him Danny Lai from CA sent you.

I wouldn't call it shady business, it is unexpected circumstances. Rebuilding the pistons ensures that the brakes are "new".
I wouldn't worry too much about it, rebuilding the seals is not a uncommon thing. It isn't expensive to do and it's a pretty easy job. I'd ask for him to give you some money back cause redoing the seals is more money out of your pocket
