I have never heard that.
I have run these in the fron of my car for 4 months now and have had zero issues.
everytime my wheeels are off for maintanance or whatever, I always try torquing down the adapters but they never give.....always nice and snug.
I also drove 4 hours away recently (with speeds up to 120 mph)and back with no issues.
