Why cant we do it like this ?!

the point is there is nothing that they can do that we can't. everyone always makes it sound like the japanese are some superior race of car enthusiasts. i say they're just some cats building cars and getting together. doesn't sound hard at all to me.

You're completely missing the point......
My point is that VIP here in the US is not as popular, does not have the history, and does not have the quantity of high quality examples. It has nothing to do with a superior race (wow....where did this come from) or anything else.
Yes, it would be hard to replicate this "show" here in the US. Go to the highest concentration of high caliber VIP cars (Cali comes to mind), and you may get 20-30 tops. This video had car...after car...after car...all ex magazine cars!!!

well we cant have this because people like to hate. when someone tries to do something different, we shut them down. For example, the GS at 2:09/2:44 has halo lights and looks nice, but when people on the forums get it others flame them on saying its only or bimmers.
ORRRRRRR maybe we cant afford it, cuz parts are expensive to get in America compared to Japan. =PPP

When the scene was relatively new out there, they didn't have these types of showing. If you look back to their most popular car show in 2003-2004, they had less than 100 cars there and thats with them already having a scene for about 10 years. They also have many more cars that are "acceptable" by the majority which makes it easier to go and get just about any chassis and already have tons of used parts available for.
Give it some time, it will happen if the people moving the movement stick together, put ego's and profit's aside and try to make it happen for the people

right now you are lucky if you find an event every 4months
one out of every 30 "drift" cars are actually made "right"
so its def not an issue with not enough time.
and oh yeah, it costs about 1/20th of what it is to build a VIP car

It's the same with any hobby. the greater majority of people have a half-arsed go at it,and a few lead by example.
Japan IS different to any western country in some ways that make it easier to build a car like what you just saw. I can't speak for what it's like in the US,but in Australia at least,we have what's called the 'tall poppy syndrome'. People that stick out above others get put down. If you parked a top class VIP car in a shopping mall carpark here, there's a good chance it'll be vandalised (at least) or stolen (at worst). Same goes for a serious drift car,or anything else that looks valuable.
In Japan however,that wouldn't happen.
Most people here also drive their cars daily, and add mods as cash allows,so their work is often less extreme and is carried out in stages.
In Japan,it's common for people to take out big loans and do it all in one hit. They also generally don't drive these cars everyday,so their mods can be more extreme and it won't affect their lifestyle as much as someone who has to drive 100km a day to and from work in the car...
All the cars I've owned over the years (nearly 20 now) have been built bit by bit as my cash and time has allowed. I stay away from cheap knock-off parts as much as possible. They're not worth it in the long run. I might fit copy control arms or bling parts to a car I wasn't planning on keeping for long and didn't really care much about, but not to something like an LS or GS. Do it once,do it right.
