Steering column replacement
Long time lurker, first time posting… just looking to vent a bit. I traded my ‘13 RAV4 for a ‘20 UX 250h about a year ago right before market went nuts. Things were great and I love the car (sans touchpad and small LCD) but about a week into this winter my wheel started squeaking every right turn.
My dealer has had the car for close to 7 days after initially “not finding anything wrong” and is now saying the entire steering column is being replaced and they are waiting for parts.
I’ve read about wheel squeak in RX and I just can’t believe the car needs a major repair at ~1 year of ownership @ 7500 miles. My rav4 had its VVT-I timing fail one month before warranty ended. Dealer has been great once they saw that I wasn’t crazy but just sucks. Anyone else have a similar issue or heard of it? Do you think this is the right fix?

Maybe it is, maybe it isn't. As long as the noise is gone when the car is given back to you, that's what matters.
I wouldn't call that a "major repair." These things happen, anyway. it's a mass-produced mass-market good like a toaster or microwave. Nothing is immune from defects. Just be happy and glad it's in warranty and being taken care of for you =)

Fair point and the service has been amazing. Not even the dealer I purchased from and they treated me the same as if I had an RX. Really happy about it, just sad that my luck with the brand (Toyo and Lex) has not been that perfect nothing but oil changes and tires.
