Lexus has trademarked the TX400h. Does anybody have any insight?
Clearly this is being positioned between the TX350 and the TX500h.
Something more powerful, quieter, and more fuel efficient than the TX350 without all the F Sport "baggage" would be nice. I just hope it's not the RX350h powertrain in the TX because that would be terribly underpowered like the one available in the Grand Highlander. But what else could it be?
I thought about waiting for the TX400h before pulling the trigger on the TX500h.
It would likely be a be less torque and HP compared to the TX500h.
If it's the 2.5L NA 4 cylinder, it maybe darn slow also. Unless their electric motors are better.
According to Car & Driver, in a 2025 grand Highlander hybrid (2.5L NA hybrid) they ran 0-60 in 7.8 seconds. Circled in red is 0-60 time from same power plant found in the TX500h. Over 2 sec difference. But I will hang my hat on the NA 2.5L hybrid being more reliable long term with less maintenance and lower running cost.

I have the 2.5L NA hybrid in my NX. It's great for a smaller vehicle but the engine could be stronger. I also used to worry about the turbo due to reliability. Toyota/Lexus has had the 2.4L Turbo out since 2024 and I haven't heard of lots of issues. Toyota has had issues with the twin-turbo V6 engines.
After driving the TX500h a few test drives, it's a way too smooth and quiet to pass up. We wanted power in a large SUV. The 2.4L Turbo has more torque than the 2.5L NA engine.
C&D reviews are so and so. I won't just trust those reviews, just go test them out.
No dealer in our area has the Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid Max available or even markup available.
The TX400h will likely be the 2.5L NA hybrid with stronger electric motors (1 front and 1 rear for awd).
