Default Prospective TX350 owner - few questions

Hi all,
I am coming from a 2023 BMW X7 and have had just issue after issue with it. Am looking to offload it for a TX350. One of my favorite and most used abilities of the X7 was that it is able to remember parking sequences and park itself in my garage. For example, I pull into my driveway, start to 'record' the sequence by parking the car myself. Then, next time I reach the starting spot (on my driveway) the car will prompt me to run the parking sequence which will then park the car itself in my garage. Does the TX350 have any kind of system that can do that also? Thank you!

Are you cross shopping XC90 along with the Lexus TX?

Curious, why are you looking to get out of your X7?

whoops, edited. Yes I am cross shopping the XC90 as well. The X7 has been a joy to drive and I really enjoy it. However, I only have 20k miles and my air suspension on the driver side blew out (3k miles in) and now my transfer case is having issues, which seems to be a widespread issue.

TX does not self park in the manner, as you describe.....but will auto park in parking lot spaces or parallel park.........

Going from an X7 to TX350 is going to be quite the drop in performance if that matters to you. Are you set on the TX350 or would you consider the TX 500H or even the TX 550H+?

As a fellow X7 owner, the only TX I would consider replacing our X7 with would be the TX 550H+. Unless you have the M60i, TX 550H+ has similar performance with similar mpg on highway (550H+ blows it out of the water if you plug it in for in town driving).

TX has more legroom in the 3rd row and more cargo space than in the X7 3rd row and its cargo space with the 3rd row in place.

Close relative has a TX350 so I’ve had opportunity to spend some time in it.

Love the X7 and as you mentioned enjoy driving it but if I were looking to get into something more reliable long term, TX 550H+ would be my choice. 2nd row bench seat on the hybrid models would be cherry 🍒 on the top.

Thanks for your insight. What you said is exactly what I'm looking for, need something more reliable and having a little extra space behind the 3rd row would be helpful. I love my X7 but have no confidence that it'll last especially with all these major issues I'm having at just 20k miles. I can look past the weird electronic issues that pop up every now and then but the mechanical ones definitely worry me. Will look into the 500/550H but not sure the cost difference will be worth it for me as I'm just shuttling my kids to their activities really.

To save you a little, things to look forward to:

Only the TX350 has the option for 2nd row bench seat (hybrid models come with 2nd row captain seats only)
TX350/500H both have 17 gallon fuel tank but DTE will display you’re empty after around 12-13 gallons used. (Hidden reserve tank)
TX550h+ has even smaller fuel tank (14.5 gallons) option to plug in and run around on electric is nice!!
2026 is first model year TX 550h+ to get a sunroof. Prior years 550h+ no sunroof or pano roof.
Both 350/500H come with spare tire. 550h+ does not
550h+ arguably has the most reliable powertrain out of the 3 models due to it NA V6 engine combined with hybrid/electric motors (8yr warranty on hybrid motor)

Do yourself a favor and test drive all 3 models 350/500h/550h+ if available (550h+ has low availability)

Good luck with your search

Do you have the X7 M60i or 40i?

'23 40i. Got bit by the transfer case issue so I'm hoping you dodge that one.

If it does, hopefully it falls within the extended warranty.

Curious to hear your thoughts and comparison when you get behind the wheel of a TX.

The issue with the transfer case is the dealerships first remedy will be to flush your transfer case fluid. But according to other owners on the forums, this is just a temporary fix and after a bit of time, the issue will reoccur again resulting in the transfer case needing to be replaced. Being that I only drive 5-7k miles a year, this issue won't reappear until I'm well outside of warranty (most owners report 20-30k more miles before it comes back). Keep an eye out on the car doing a slight shudder when you are going from low speed to gradually speeding up while turning (for example, I felt it making a left turn at a light. Once the light turned green I accelerated but as I was going into the turn, I could feel the car shudder slightly). To replace the transfer case it's a 7-10k job.

Will def report back after taking the TX for a spin, I'm hoping losing 100hp won't be too bad

Definitely will be keeping a close eye on it and anything else that arises. Coming from previous Lexus models, FWIW the X7 is our first vehicle with an extended warranty.

I hang around the TX forum because it’s what we considered before getting behind the wheel of the X7. 550h+ would be my choice and would have to compromise losing the 2nd row bench. I feel confident in its powertrain that I would hesitate on purchasing an extended warranty for it because it’s a proven powertrain (NA 3.5 liter V6) + hybrid system that Lexus has been using for years!!

At time we got our X7, the TX 550h+ had too many compromises:

No sunroof or pano roof (added for 2026)
Captain 2nd row seats only (no bench)
No spare tire

TX 350 had all of the above but ultimately chose BMW’s B58 inline 6 engine over the fairly new 4 cylinder turbo that comes in the TX350.

Speaking of extended warranties, is there a dealership that forum goes to for cheaper warranties? I know I did that with our past cars and it served us well.
