Saw it in person as well at fashion island. With the 3rd row up it really does have a lot of space in the back. Not used to seeing that in Lexus vehicles. This is more practical for our family. Will probably make a deposit for the plug in hybrid.

Any word on when they'll be taking orders? I keep hearing anywhere from 3Q23-1Q24

On paper, with the 550h+ power train, the TX is everything I'm looking for. I currently drive a Sorento PHEV and need to size up, so the TX 550h+ is at the top of the list on paper since I want to either stay PHEV or go EV.

That said, I'm fairly disappointed in some of Lexus' design choices.

No caramel/saddle interior option, no wood trim option, only semi-aniline trimmed seats vs interior option, significantly fewer interior color options than every other Lexus SUV except the RZ, no cool box option, no wood trimmed steering wheel option, no massaging seats option, no acoustic glass option, and no triple beam headlight option.

Not all, or even most, of those matter to me, but they're glaring omissions from the options list, especially the interior colors and lack of wood.

Real wood is a Lexus tradition. The NX, RX, current GX, LX, IS, ES, and LS all offer real wood trims, as did all the legacy models. The only current vehicles that do not are the UX, RZ, TX and the new GX, and given what they are, I wouldn't expect the UX or RZ to have wood. Given that multiple models both below and above the TX and GX have real wood trim, that's a pretty glaring omission.

Same kinda thing with the lack of a caramel interior for the TX--it has the fewest interior color options by far of any vehicle in Lexus' lineup except for the RZ.

I would posit that the lack of real wood is 100% fine in a mass market brand like Toyota. In a luxury brand like Lexus, on the other hand, it's a bewildering choice given how prevalent it is throughout the rest of the model lineup above and below the TX and GX

^^^I agree with you habu987. Also, the hybrid and PHEV version does not get a second-row bench (3 person) seat. I assume since this is the first-generation TX, maybe on the second year production or even later the second-generation TX would have the option for wood trim, more choice with interior options and exterior colors, etc., leather options, wood trimmed steering wheel option, massaging seats, acoustic glass, triple beam headlights, etc. I want to put down a deposit for the TX 550h+ but as you mentioned the TX is missing many options, choices, etc...

Default Agreed with lack of options

Agreed 100 percent. Not sure why Lexus decided to launch the TX with such a lack of customization options. Would love to order it immediately, but given the only interior options are black, gray, or dark brown with no natural wood it’s a pass for the model year. Also, the white is the same as the Grand Highlanders as opposed to a Starfire Pearl.

It must have to do with the ramp up at the Indiana factory. Which is another issue in and of itself, seems like very little delineation between the Toyo GH and the TX.

Hopefully MY25 will have additional options

Anyone heard anything about the timeframe for TX 550h+ availability? Even though the vehicle seems a bit halfhearted as a luxury car, the powertrain is exactly what I want and most of the right features are there.

I happen to have a particularly bad local Lexus dealer and would be open to buying a car from elsewhere if I can find someone who will be up front with me about both timing and pricing.

Agree - the GX is staying put for now. Really looking for a mid sized Lexus and this is the size we are looking for. Hopefully some features show up.

does that mean there is no acoustic glass? I'm assuming since its a Lexus, it should have it standard in the TX and GX models. Thoughts?

TX 350 Luxury or 500h f sport performance luxury

I currently own Lexus ES350 2013 model and looking to buy soon to be released Lexus TX. Based on what I have gathered, the engine in TX 350 and 500h will be similar to that of RX350 and 500h. So I test drove both of the RX models and still struggling to make a decision.

RX500h - I certainly felt more power.

RX350 - was still noisy compared to my ES350.

It seemed the smoothness of RX350 was an incremental difference over RX500h.

Luxury, smooth ride will be important for me. But if RX or TX version of 350 doesn't emerge as a clear winner, I feel that I might as well go with TX500h as I would atleast be getting more power.

Spec sheet - https://www.lexus.com/content/dam/le...XUS_TX_POG.pdf

Thoughts?

I suspect your ES350 has the V6 engine. You are comparing it to the Turbo 4 cylinder in the current RX350 and base TX? Only the TX 550 has the V6.

You want the Hybrid Max drivetrain. If you value smoothness, you won't be happy with the base 2.4L turbo. We have the same engine in our 2023 Highlander platinum. It's noisy with a noticeable turbo lag. The power is barely adequate for the Highlander. It will struggle to pull the heavier Grand Highlander/TX.

There is a YouTuber car reviewer out there who made an interesting point about the TX550h+. It wasn't the fact it was a PHEV, but the fact that the base engine is the proven Lexus V6 for reliability plus the larger battery for more power. The turbocharged 2.4L has not been around as long, and the V6 is NA. Granted, will a $10K premium price tag be worth it vs a 125K mile extended warranty if turbo reliability was a concern? I don't think it will be eligible for tax credits.

All perfect and Love at first sight but when i saw the Front end - It sucks!

Would it be an upgrade from a 2019 LX570?

Thinking about making the switch from LX 570 as well. Love the LX but interested in the TX 550h+ (no turbo lag + instant throttle with the NA V6 paired with ECVT). One would think that powertrain would be as bulletproof as the 5.7 V8 found in the LX.
