Are the Blitz Z2's a 3 piece or 2 piece design? I thought they were 2 piece, but I heard somewhere that they are a three piece.

thanks. (i guess I'm too lazy...at least thats what everyone else says). Now the question is, what makes this a three piece rim. I know a two piece rim has the bolts holding the spokes to the lip (or whatever) but then where do u go from there to make a wheel a 3 piece wheel?

There is not only 1 lip! There is an outer lip and and inner lip. Those two separate pieces meet are sealed at the same place where the face of the wheel bolts on.

Three piece wheels have two rim halves (usually not equal in width), the outer and the inner. The center of the wheel (spokes & hub mounting pad) is produce as a single piece and bolted to the rim halves. Changing the wheel halves allows the manufacturer to easily change width & offset without having to produce different center sections.

Oh I didn't know that. I always assumed it was more of a customer service thing...when the outer or inner lip would get damaged..you would just have to replace that part, not the entire wheel. I guess what you says make sense. It allows manufacturer's to keep lower inventories, be more flexible, and respond better to customer demand.
