Daddy Needs New Shoes to look Mean on 22's
Hey guys I am need of some quick expert advice. I currently just ordered :
Antera 301 Chrome 22 inch rims.
I have a 2003 LX470 and I want to fill the wheel wells up but also want a pretty big tire to go with the 22's. I definately do not want a low profile tire. I have been told that the biggest tire size I can go with is:
305/40/22
But others have told me that is a lower profile tire and it will look a little funny....(extremely small sidewall)
They have given me advice to go with a 305/50/22 or at least a 305/45/22. Can you guys give me a detailed difference? I need to know soon as I have to order the tires fast! Let me know guys, and if you can show me the difference in pictures, I will be in debt!!! Puleaze help out!!!

Here goes, I hope this helps. First of all, it depends on what tire you are getting, the width of the rim and the offset. Being that your OEM tire size is 275-60-18 on a 8" wide wheel, your OEM overall diameter is approx 31". If you went to a 305-50-22, your overall diameter would increase approximately 4". Although the combination might fit while the front wheels are straight, I don't believe this will work. You may have some rubbing issues when the wheels are fully turned. If you went with a 305-45-22, your overall diamter will increase 2.8" with probably the same results as previously mentioned. Pirelli makes a 305-40-22 Scorpion Zero with an overall diameter of 31.6" that you may be able to get away with, fill your wheel wells and still keep the look and feel of an SUV. The overall diameter is only increased by 0.6". Has the place you ordered the wheels form done an LX fitment? They may be your best source of info. Here is a link to some pics of an LX with 22s http://www.detailzaudio.com/lexus.asp No tire size stated, though. HTH

Hey Thanks for the reply. So this is what I got:
305/50/22 is an absolute no go. The same with the 305/45/22. These are of course all Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires.
The absolute best bet would be to use a :
Pirelli Scorpion Zero 305/40/22.
The place that I ordered from has not done an LX fitment, but the company CEC wheels seems to think that it will fit fine. I just want to make sure some things.
The over all tire height is actually going to be 0.6" taller than the stock ride? Thanks again!
