What is the best tire combination for 18" wheels?
I just got a set of 18" wheels, and am now looking for tires.
What sizes are recommended? I am not using the car for track days, and normally do not drive very hard.
(not over 90 mph).
I am looking for the most cost efficient combination.
By the way, I can get the 225/40/18 + 255/35/18 about 30% cheaper than the other combinations, however, even if cost is an issue, would you still go for other options or that this cost efficient combination?

Based on price and availability I decided to go for Yoko ES100 in 235/40/18 and 265/35/18 together with my RH C5 . This tire size is the most popular combination in Hong Kong.

Hey I'm looking to buy some 18's this month for a 97 ES300, what is the best tire size. The package comes with either 3 different tire sizes:
225/40-18 & 2 others I can't remember..Tire Rack.com says that the 225/40-18 should fit....anu advice? and how do I drop the car and how much would that cost, and is it necessary when putting 18's on???

I've been wrestling with the same issue. The 245 / 275 combination yields the stock diameter, but I'm concernd about looks (too fat?) & performance (additional width = additional rolling resistance & more "darty" in ruts).
What kind of wheels did you get? What did you pay for them & where did you get them? What else did you consider?
Right now, I'm leaning towards OZ Superleggeras, because they're very light (18.6 lb for 18" rim) and reasonably priced (~$300 or so per wheel). I would *dearly* love to find something that also had a polished lip. Three-piece Superleggera's have them but are way too rich for my blood.
Also looked at the Lexus 18" VAPC wheels (you can find them in eBay for $1100). Just not sure how they'd look on an LS400...
Comments and suggestions gratefully accepted!
