CL, Help me choose a tire.
OK, Here are the criteria I have to meet:
No/Low noise.
Wheel protector (from curbs etc)
NO MORE THAN $100 PER TIRE
Decent in rain (snow isnt a worry, i have dedicated wheels/tires for winter)
The biggest factor in my purchase is Noise. I cannot stand it. Neither me nor my wife are "Hot rod harry's", we dont need to do more H speed rated (but can if nessecary), and we dont go screaming through turns. We will be living in the seattle area so It HAS to be good in rain.
I dont care how long the tires last. I have even camber all the way around (0 deg), and Alignment is correct. If it last 20k miles, thats equal to 2 years of seasonal use, so I am good.
Now for the biggest question. Should I go 215/45/17? or 215/40/17? I would like to have a comfortable ride, but am willing to sacrifice the smoothness for looks. I am not (nor will I be) lowered anytime soon...but my worry with going with a 45 series on a 17 is that they still look HUGE. I am all about low profile. I cannot go any wider than 225 if I go with a 40 series, they will rub, and 215 is the max on the 45 series, unless I want to roll fenders in front (NO THANKS).
