Thinking of getting 18's
Hello all, I'm planning on getting 18 inch wheels, I want to put a staggerd fitment on, but the wheels i'm interested in are 18 X 8.5 thats all they come in. Whould I be able to run 235 in the front and 265 in the rear without any problems? Would it look weird? and would it handle properly?. Need your guys input. Thanks

If I hear one more person say minimum 19" on a GS i'm gunna freakin snap. Do you have any idea how ****ty the roads in canada and the midwest USA can be? Large wheel sizes with low profile rubber can be dangerous as HELL when you don't know what is around the corner.

The Roads in Canada Suck!!!.
I even bent my stock 17's, there is no way i'm getting anything bigger than 18.
BTW I have allready made up my mind, I'm going with SSR Gt1's Now all I have to do is find someone that has them in stock.

A 265 tire on an 8.5 inch rim is a bit too wide. If your looking to improve cornering or get even treadwear, your not going to get it. Your better off with 245's all the way around.
If it's just for looks, IMHO that's quite a compromise in functionality for a small increase in tread width.
Check with Tirerack on what the manufacturer recommends for a minimum rim width.
Another note: a 275/35-18 is a little smaller in diameter than the 245/40 fronts, while a 285/35-18 is a little larger than the fronts. Either size is a good choice. Choosing a 265/35 is going to be over 3/8 inch SMALLER in diameter than the fronts.

Correction
Just noticed you originally asked about a size 235 front not a 245. In that case a rear 265/35 would be 3/8 inch larger in diameter than the front.
New problem : A 235/35-18 is now smaller in overall diameter than a stock 235/45-17 by more than 3/4 inch. You can expect to see MORE wheel gap with this size front tire.
In the end the recommendation is the same. 245's all around.
PS - I'd get 19's

This is what I am gonna go with.
SSR GT1 18X8 F 18X9.5 R
Yokohamah AVS db 235/40/18 F 265/35/18 R
This setup should be almost the same, as far as overall diameter as the stock 17's
RIGHT?

navaz,
These are the numbers for the L-Tuned wheel setup. I have the L-Tuned wheels and I like them fine. I would have liked it if they were a hair wider. I would have rather ran a 245/275 setup. The 18x8 is a bit too narrow for the 245s while the 18x9.5 should be fine for the 275s. I will probably run 235/275 when I replace my tires.
The L-Tuned front wheels only come 18x8. Since you have a choice, I'd suggest going with 18x8.5f with the 245s.
Also, if you ever plan an upgrade to larger brakes, make sure the wheels you are getting will have enough clearance. As I am not familiar with these SSR wheel specs, I will leave that for others to reply.
Good luck.
