tpms sensors when changing wheels
i want to switch my stock ls 460 rims for chrome teleios rims and lexus said it would take 2 to 3 hours and cost 250-300 dollars.can the average garage remount my tires,or do the tpms sensors require special equipment or programming skills only available at a lexus service department.

I am pretty sure there are some shops that can do the TPMS for you, but when it comes to wheels I go to my dealers because they have the best install quality and they make sure it gets done.....

i have heard that lexus pays a commision to its technicians based on the cost of work performed.if that is true,it gives incentive to inflate costs. i hope someone could enlighten me as to what the actual probems a local garage may encounter in the switchover.

I had this done at a Performance Wheel and Tire shop when I had 17" chrome wheels and Hankook W409 snow tires put on my '06 GS430.
They didn't balk at all and still no charge. They'd seen them before and knew to be careful.
Being's your getting the same TPMS modules remounted they wouldn't have to reprogram anything. I'd go somewhere else.
