Default 42 offset 20x10 rear. Can I do 35 series?

I have a pair of rims 42 offset 20x10 for rear. I will shave fenders and drop 1.0" with eibach springs. Has any one put 275/35/20 tires on a setup like this with no rub? I really dont want 30 series in back. other question is should I go with nitto 555s or kumho tires. I heard 555s have rubbing issues.

It'll look like a truck tire on the GS. The 275/35-20 is 2.25" taller than the
OE 235/45-17, so it'll significantly change the gearing... and make the car slower.

I wouldn't recommend it, but it might work... it depends on which brand/model
of tire you choose. For example, certain Michelin and Dunlop tires are so
"square shouldered" that they might touch the fender.

If you're going 245/35-20 front + 275/35-20 rear, you may also have ABS
and TCS issues due to the taller rear tires.

235/45-17 = 25.33" diameter
245/30-20 = 25.79" diameter ("correct" +3 fitment)

245/35-20 = 26.75" diameter
275/35-20 = 27.58" diameter
275/30-20 = 26.50" diameter
285/30-20 = 26.73" diameter (best match for 245/35-20)

Ahh I see work it works. I guess I didnt understand how tires worked. so with a 20x10 should I go with a 285/30/20 or a 275/30/20? with a 1 inch drop and a 42 offset will 285/30 rubs? Also does it matter if their nitto 555s or kumhos? Which shoul I go with?

I suggest you spend time on tirerack and look at tire diameter, sectional width etc...

I have seen a 2GS with 20x8.5 / 20x10 and 245/35 - 275/35-20 tires, it honestly looked like a old hot rod with slicks and skinny's, with a huge fat rear tire and a small slim front one.

Im about to get wheels on my GS. thinking 20 by 8.5 in front with 245 34 20 and 20 by 9.5 in back with 275 35 20. You think i will have problems. Im getting Iforged rims so their gonna build the rims to my offset.

as already mentioned, your tires will be too tall...

widths should be ok though...

Take SoCalSC4's advice and try to get the diameters for both front and rear tires as close as possible. You should look into better brands than Nitto and Kumho...they are "economic" brands IMHO.
