Wheels, Tires & Brakes Forum Where else do you go for wheel, tire and brake information?

I bought 18's with an offset of 45 - should I have gotten the 38's?

Question I bought 18's with an offset of 45 - should I have gotten the 38's?

I bought 18x8 front, and 18x9 rear wheels (Brand and model: MB EXE II) and selected an offset of 45. I'm putting 245/40/18 on front and 275/35/18 on the rears. Did I pick the right offset? I could go as high as 48, and as low as 38.

What does the offset do to the look? Will the tire fit in the wheel well at 38? Will it stick out too far at 48? Which offset has the deepest dish look (which I am after)?

The tires are Goodyear F1 GS D3, so I'm pretty psyched to see how they ride (I've heard mainly good things)

Thanks!
DD.

Is this for your 2001 GS430?

Wheel designs may make a difference, here's a link to a discussion several years ago when I was buying 18" wheels for my GS

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ht=piaa+offset

and how they ended up looking on the car

Default Wow - impressive response time (like, 5 minutes) :-)

Yes, this is for my 2001 GS430.

I'm so psyched for these...I'm like a little kid. Now I know why everyone gets so damn excited when they order new wheels/tires. I'll look at the links now.

Thanks Dave!

Default Here's the wheel...similar to yours...maybe not quite as sweet...

I think I'm going to try to go with the offset of 38 - that should look better.

thanks again,
dd

+38mm offset will definately look better on an 8" wide and 9" wheel compared to +45mm.
