Call me crazy but...i want 17s
Alright, I know 95% of people on here go for the 19, 20s, and even bigger wheels, but I've decided to go the smaller route for a few reasons:
1. i like my lexus ride quality
2. I dont feel like putting extra stress on my wheel bearings and suspension rolling huge wheels
3. more rotational mass=slower, and i like speed
so i've been goin photoshop crazy and have decided i like the look of the gramlights 57c's in silver on my car. So my question to all of you is, what do you suggest for wheel width and tire width for 17s. i was thinking with going 17X7.5 in the front and 17X8.5 in the rear. The main thing im concerned with is making the rears nice and wide and giving it a meaner look. Any suggestions would be excellent as i want this to get done for the springtime. thanks

Nitto 555's come in a 245/45 and 275/40 which would work out perfect as for your diameter......just gotta find the rims now
Volk makes some nice 17" staggered set-ups....

No rubbing for me......I have +35 offsets for my 9.5" rears. My new wheels will be +38 which wont rub either.

If you want to do 40's, you might as well go with 18's.
Personally, if I stayed with 17s, I would go with 45 all around for that comfort and still maintain some performance.
Oh nevermind, I thought you want to go with the stock 17s.

My SSR Integrals are 17x8 up front and 17x9 in the rear on my SC, I'm not sure of the offset, but I thinks its 35mm or 38mm.
sorry, but this is the only pic i have

Just someting to think about
1. ride quality does not have to suffer with 18 or 19" wheels, it all depends upon the tires you choose
2. The wheels may be larger but they will likely weigh less which would result in lower stress I think.
3. Like I said if they are lighter than what you have now I doubt if you will see a reduction in performance.

does anyone have any side shots with the difference between 17s and 18s?? maybe like the stock 17s then 18s? I just want to see if its THAT big of a difference. thanks
"The wheels may be larger but they will likely weigh less which would result in lower stress I think." --- do you have any suggestions on what bigger wheels will be lighter than the stock 16s? because thats what im on now

for example on tirerack:
rims:
O.Z. Ultraleggera
17x8 ** Lightweight: 17.5lbs.
18x8 ** Lightweight: 18.8lbs.
But on other wheels that state:
19x8 **lightweight is 27.5 pounds
tires:
goodyear eagle f1
225/55 WR16 25lbs
235/45 WR17 26lbs
Going with these tires and rims you just increased your rolling weight by 9.2 pounds. If you do alot of drag racing or autocrossing this would matter. For an average person driving to work and back you would never notice.
