Default Moda R6 Balancing Issues

I have Moda R6 18X8 (front) and 18X9 (rear) wheels on my '99 GS400. I bent two of my rims on the passenger side (long story) and just replaced them a few days ago. I had all 4 wheels/tires balanced with the road force on a hunter balancer. I left the tire shop and noticed a really bad vibration in the steering wheel at about 55mph. I brought it right back and had them balance all 4 again. They said there were no bends in any of them and the road force was coming in with a very low number which was good. They said bigger wheels like mine are sometimes very hard to balance and no matter what you do, there may be some vibration issues. I found that hard to believe since my original set of Modas were completely fine the majority of the time and only needed to be re-balanced every 5-6 months. The tire shop thought it may be an issue with the car but I had my stock 17's on for about 3 weeks and the car road perfectly. Anyway, I left the tire shop and the same vibrations showed up at 60mph instead of 55mph. I'm thinking it may be due to my driver side front rim, since the vibration is in the steering wheel. I may need to replace this one too, but I don't want to buy another rim just to have the same issue arise.

Has anyone with Moda R6 rims experienced these balancing problems? If not, does anyone have any advice? I'm ready to throw my stock 17's back on the car since the vibrations is driving me crazy.

Thanks!

I have Moda R6's in 18x8/9 and had some issues at first too.

The way it worked out was after many balances and still some vibes, I loosened all the lugs, and did a very gradual stepped torque application. Starting around 50, then 55, 60, 70, 75 or so. Use a quality torque wrench and make smooth even application. Evenly all around the wheel in the star pattern. Wow what a difference. I can only say that in the tire shop that the quick application could have had an impact. Also when I had the car aligned, the tracking and balance did better. Once in a while, when we have a temperature change I get a little imbalance at first, but it is minor and works out quickly. I guess the GS400 is pretty sensitive to it.
