Hi all,
I want to change the bridgestones on my car, the rear ones need to go, and if I change them I rather get rid of all 4 and just get a better tire (Yokohama or Michelin). My dealer is not an otion as he carries only the original tires the car comes with.
Is Tirerack a good option?
Anyone knows a better place in the Philly area?

Got my Michelin cross terrain 235/70/16 from tire rack.com 1/2 year ago. Tire rack is good place, has good service and good price. Tire are good, better than oem Goodyear integrity. But front tires still spin when I floor it. Next time, I will try pilot sport.

ehh personally, i like the yoko's, the toyo's and the dunlops.

Dealer is not a good choice for item like tires. You can get exactly the same tire from tire shops and even volume clubs (Cosco etc) for substantial savings. Also no specailized skill/training/experience/tools are needed that would be exclusively available at the dealership.

Do the 235 fit on the original wheel? is there a difference?

Yes, the 235s fit on the original wheel, no rubbing. The spare fits easily in the trunk.

245s are known to rub, thus spacers should be used.

235s in the CTXs have a lower treadlife, something like 440 versus 700 for the 225, however max air pressure is like 44psi for the 235s and just 35 or 38psi for the 225s.

Go for either the Yokohama Geolander G-051 OR the Toyo Open Country M-410's. The are the best available & are both awesome choices.

I purchase all tires from an independent tire dealer who always beats Sam's Club, Costco, and Tirerack's prices. He also rotates the tires every 5,000 miles and checks the balance for no extra charge.

I go to a tire dealer as well & it's good advice as they provide excellent service & Tires is all they do!

Like Lexmex said. 235 fit nicely to my 16' oem wheels. Tire rack called and said 235 wouldn't fit my 16x7 wheels. But I insised to buy them and they were fited. I had Costco to installed the tires.

I personally use original factory size as I'm not a huge fan of puttint larger wheels or tires on my car in case of a warranty claim but that's just my 2 cents.
