Default Finally got my 80lb 20s on...Have problem..please help..

What kinda of lug nuts and locks do you guys use for your 20s? The rims are really huge and heavy around 70-80lbs each...Im using short lug nuts for now that is hand tighten...!!

After driving around for 20 minutes with no problems at all, vibration started coming from the drivers side front wheel...I'm thinking that I didn't tighten the lug nuts correctly since it is tighten by hand...

I figured that it can't be the tire being unbalanced since it did drive fine for 20mins or so...

I was going to take some pics but trying to solve this problem first...

wow damn, what kind of wheels you got?! 70-80lb EACH? my 20s are 26lb each and i think that's quite some weight already. man, the car must be pretty slow right now i suppose?

anyway, there are different types of lug nuts, it all depends on what kind of wheels you got. and are you telling me that you just use your bare hands, no wrenches, to tighten the lug nuts?! are you crazy?! you need about 80lb-ft on the lug nuts, i don't think anyone can apply that force by hands... if you just use hands to tighten it, you are lucky that the wheels haven't fallen off yet... go get a tq wrench man.

make sure the wheels are not damaged and the studs aren't bent or so as well...

if it drove fine for 20 mins, that means they are balanced ok, i don't think the balance can be off that fast. most likely it's coz' you didn't tq down the wheels correctly.... check the wheels and studs like i said to make sure they aren't damaged

What do you mean when you say "hand tighten"? You mean you turned them with your finger and thats it, or with a cross bow?

Ok, i found my problem...One of the wheels were loose so I just tightened it and now it rides fine...

And yes..It does feel like 80 pounds each...I had a hard time putting them on since they were so god darn heavy...It almost broke my back!!

Got these from hustler07...High disc setup, can probably fit ANY big Brake kit...

But the downside, its really heavy...

GUYS, I need long lug nuts and locks!! They ones im using is wayyy too short for the rims...I can barely reach the lug nut since its WAYYY in there...Any suggestions??

I gotta clarify myself..The rim itself is around 40 pounds with tires its 70-80 pounds each..

To my surpise the 20s rides a lot better than my 18's...Not harsh at all!!

Go to the nearest tire shop - they will be able to match proper lug nuts for those wheels. Any reputable shop such as Discount Tire will do it no problem!

yeah, my set of 20" were a pain to stuff onto my car the first time around. 18"s feel more compact and easier to deal with, but its gotta be perception. my back sure hurts after trying to lift them and toss them onto those studs. ugh....i hate changing my rims around

and i didn't think a tire/wheel combo can weight 60-80lbs. i only measured one set of chrome 3-piece 19s, with the rears being 10", and i think it was 55lbs with tire.

Pics coming soon...Just been so busy lately...I really like the way it looks in the daytime...EXTREME BLING FACTOR when i drive around in the city at nightime tho, it just doesnt seem like my kinda style....WAY too chrome for me...At any rate, I have to admit they do look a lot better on 20s than 18s...

I fixed the problem...The lug nuts were not exactly tighten and I will be needing longer stem lug nuts to hold the heavy rim up...I swear I almost lost my back and my knees trying to put them on...

oh i have seen 19s that are close to 50lb each just the rims. don't underestimate how heavy a rim could be
