Default Rear Shock - AVS or Regular

Hi everyone ...
I just purchased a 2013 Lexus GS 450h with 83K miles on it.
The car drives great except for an annoying noise in the rear which after checking in the trunk, I found the rubber on top of the shock mount cracked in pieces and there is some grease/oil in that area.
My mechanic friend recommended I go to the dealer provide the VIN and get a new shock and the absorber rubber cushion on top.
Based on my VIN, the dealer provided me with the following part numbers:

48530-80756 ... Shock Absorber (Rear Right)
90948-01101 ... Cushion

Based on my car VIN, the dealer confirmed that this is a regular shock.

There is a plug on top of the shock absorber that I am not sure of its function or if this is an Adaptive Variable Suspension shock.

Please check the attached picture and let me know your thoughts as I am clueless.

Thanks!

Thanks guys for the info ...

So the dealer quoted me the wrong shock ?

Is the AVS Shock totally different from the regular shock and has a different part number ?

Totally different with a different part number.

AVS shocks are adjustable, adapting to the road, drive mode, and your control inputs. A solenoid in that housing bolted to the top of the shock rotates a tab on top of the shock to adjust the damping.

Thanks @panyo64

Honestly the ride is perfectly fine, soft and very comfortable. It is only the cracked cushion on top of the shock that is causing the knocking/clunking sound and can be only heard in small bumps

Do you think I can change the top cushion only as it seems that the dealer does not have the AVS shock in stock ?

Is that Strut leaking? Have you had it checked? Where is the fluid coming from up top? If the strut is ok then you could just change the Strut mount.
