Default Any Advice for new suspension?

I have a 07 Gs450H with 110k on the clock.

I took it to the dealership for an oil change, and to inspect a clunking noise. Apparently I have 2 leaky front struts, and both rear calipers seized up. Supposedly also warped front rotors (I don't feel any pulsing). The dealership quoted me $4200. Which is just ridiculous.

I replaced the front calipers, all 4 rotors, and pads a few years ago. They only have about 30K miles on them.

Since I apparently need to rebuild the rear calipers anyways, I've looked into just doing all the struts at once since I'll be there. I don't care about AVS, and I don't have APSS.

I've read as much as I can find about just doing coilovers instead. It's only about 200 dollars more. I've read some good things about the Tein Flex Z, but most threads are older or incomplete.

Are these still recommended? I know the weight is a bit heavier with the battery etc, but I don't really ever drive with more than one other person in my car so I'm not sure how big of a difference it's really gonna be?

I Know a fair bit of people use the KYB gas-a-just, but I've also run across some preloaded kybs that are preloaded as well. Not sure if those are newer on the market?

I run stock wheels/tires (Michelin 4s). I'd like to avoid any rubbing etc. I don't really care about stance on this vehicle, so I don't desire it to be slammed, although a little lower would be nice as long as it doesnt affect anything else.

Which route would you guys go?

A)All 4 kyb gas a justB) Teins or ??
C) oem AVS
D) Burn the car to the ground because I just had to do the hybrid pump last year lmfao

Having just gone through this on a GS460, you are lucky because the 450H has OEM KYB options WITH AVC/active suspension. 460 doesn't as it has the bushing integrated in the bottom of the shock.
450h shocks are cheaper if you can find the KYB versions for it. Just ensure they are listed as with active suspension etc.
GET the service manual, AVC isn't just 'swap the shocks like a camry' there are specific alignment procedures relevant to the shock orientation/alignment of piston etc.

edit: if you check KYB website for 2013 GS450 you will see 7210000 and 7210001 with AVS/Active.
From what I can see most 2013 model suspension fits 2008 etc (the 2014 ISF shocks fit in GS460 etc) but you really need to do your research there, but it could save you a hell of a lot of money. I was gutted I couldn't use these shocks for the 460 as they are half the price or less.

edit: I went AVS. I've had superbikes with aftermarket Ohlins and coilovers in my S2k track car etc and well used to tuning suspension.
I'm glad I stayed with stock system, comfort when I need it and sport out the back when I need that. I don't need track day shocks for the road. And before you get to that point if you are using it stupid hard on the road, the rear sway bar which is pencil sized, will let you down before the shocks..

If you're mostly going straight lines in burger land though, who cares about AVS. Where I live there are more corners than straights usually..

Thanks for that info, s2Kiwi.

From what I can tell, the AVS ones you mentioned are definitely for the newer model 13+. I can't really find info about compatibility for the 07 I have.

The Tein Flex Z has dropped a bit in price, I think? It's about 800 give or take, and I wouldn't have to worry about loading the springs up etc. It seems the AVS after getting the springs loaded will be just about the same price as the coils.

I'll keep looking into this, but I feel like I've exhausted pretty much every research avenue. I'm not exactly sure where to go from here.

Go and inspect your shocks, take pics see what the lower mount is like, that is the only part that really changes between the AVC shocks (okay some slight valving changes) aside from springs themselves for your car especially in rear.
2014 ISF bits fit in the GS460 so it will definitely not be out of line to see if the 13 model ones do for the 450. Also if you search the variations of the part numbers (old and new) you will find some other catalogs with parts that will confirm the range covers your car or not typically. It just takes lot of digging, this is how I found the KYB OEM boots were a perfect match as they are the OEM for Lexus (they worked perfectly, even though most places don't list GS460 as compatible for them..)

I've been pretty relentlessly searching for struts, but I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna bite the bullet and put coilovers on it, at this point. It's getting pretty absurd having to decode everything, as all the SKUs etc have changed. I may as well spend the extra 200ish dollars and have rebuildable shocks and new springs at this point. I appreciate your insight.

If anyone knows anything else before I pull the trigger on this, please feel free to update any info, considering this Is a fairly regularly asked question with alot of incomplete and/or outdated info. I'm sure it'll be useful to other users.

Hindsight, I should've went with coilovers. This car is a keeper and I thought to save on what i could've afford. It has fsport shocks and swift springs now but wish I could adjust to be a little softer at times. With 4 people in the car it's brilliant. Do your self a favor and research fortune auto Muller
