Hi friends,

I have a IS300h F-Sport (from 2017, about 47000km on it) since last year. Sadly I have a thumping dumping sound from rear.

I'm trying to describe it: when I'm driving on a road that is slightly bumpy or not brand new, I hear a dull rumble from behind. Especially at slow speeds.

It is not a rattle or a metal sound. It is a clean dull muffled knock/bump. Everytime it's the same noise with the same volume.

A month ago I was at service and addressed this. They could hear it but they couldn't find anything and said it's normal. That drives me crazy! I looked through various forums in Germany but couldn't find any help .

The error occurs with both summer tires and winter tires. The vehicle is completely original.

Additionally i sound deaded the whole car, which makes it super quiet and comfy but the thump bump bump bump at lower speed destroys the experience.

I appreciate all your help and I tied to discribe the problem properly.

I believe I'm having the same problem as you in my IS200T – I'll be watching this thread with interest.
As for me, it comes from my rear-passenger side, as if above my wheel. I've been under there and I don't see anything amiss.

I have this from the rear passenger side as well, I haven't noticed it lately, but I do remember this was happening. I heard it with my OEM wheel & tire and still hear it on my aftermarket wheel & tire set up so it wasn't that.

Could be a bad sway bar endlink, those will make some annoying rattling noise when going over imperfections.
Check the rubber boot on the endlink for any tears as a simple visual inspection.

Had the same thumping noise coming from the rear and it was the sunroof seal. It shrinks causing metal to metal contact. Open your sunroof and see if the noise continues. If it doesn't continue, replace the seal.

I have the same "problem" last year it drove me crazy, went with the car at the dealership, they checked everything and were unable to find anything. I was also to told by the mechanic from Lexus that due to the good noise isolation of the car you start hearing new noises that otherwise we would ignore, true that to a certain point, after i drove another car it was a little bit weird.

that being said, from April until last week the noise was gone, and i was happy, last week i have swapped the summer tires with the winter tires ( bridgestone blizzak 16 inch/55/run flat/drive guard), guess what, the noise is back, especially when is wet outside.

I`m unable to say for 100 % the noise comes from the winter tires, but it looks like it. I drove the car on the same roads the whole summer, 20k KM, no noise, right after the tires change the noise is back.
