2001 gs 300
2001 gs 300 with 137,000 miles. I have a clunking noise on the passenger back rear sounds like it is coming from the wheel or underneath the car took it to three places they have put new swaybar‘s and bushings in and still have a clunking noise why don’t earth could it be they are talking about getting some kind of ear phones to see where the noise is coming from. It is super loud when they drove it on a back street sway from one side of the street to the other fast, you can hear it some on bad parking lots.
What possible could be the noise always sound like a spring.

I have a clunking noise and no one can find it after three different shops they took it for a drive sway in from right to left super fast on a side street and it sound like the bottom was going to fall out. They replaced bushings and sway bar did not stop. They are going to order a Chassidy earphone does not happen all time just on rough parking lots and when they drove it fast rocking the car from one side of the road to the other. What on earth could it be. Tired of the expensive guessing game.

Non-comprehensive list of things that can clunk:
Upper ball joints
Upper control arm bushings
Lower ball joints
Lower control arm #1 bushings
Lower control arm #2 bushings
Outer tie rod ends
Inner tie rod ends
Sway bar bushings
Sway bar end-links
Struts
Strut upper mounts
If something is loose, it's not going to be invisible, but it might be hard to see. A shop needs to check everything properly. Maybe it will be the first thing they check, maybe it will be the last, maybe it will be more than one thing.

Rear knuckle bushings are a possibility. They are missed all the time on these and other Toyota's because they are so uncommon to replace. Hard to make noise from when not driving too. They are swiveling joints pressed into the knuckle that the arms bolt to.
