Default EDFC Install Project: GS400

I chose the coin tray / mirror control location for my EDFC controller because I wanted it to be within reach and easily viewable.

The Mirror control was relocated to an open spot that is just barely visible from the driver's position between the stering wheel and the turn signal stalk.

Default Step #1

The first step was to mock up the EDFC trim plate out of wood and fit it to the opening.

The wood trim was then fitted to the EDFC. The original piece it replaces is shown below it.

The finished piece is fitted to the dash. You can see the two aluminum mounting brackets I fabricated to bolt to the factory holes. You can also see the blue tape that I used to determine the position of where to re-locate the mirror control. That piece of tape was mounted ALL over the place before finalizing that location.

The EDFC unit was secured to the back of the bezel using formed aluminum, then riveted and bolted into place.

Default EDFC Project: Mirror Control

The next step was to chop up the factory plastic piece and utilize the mirror control section as a base to create a new mounting bezel.

Default EDFC Project: Dash Template

A template of the dash countour was made of card stock. It was not symmetrical top to bottom as you can see. Next a wood form was created to copy the template.

Flat Styrene plastic was then heated to form to the exact shape of the dash.

Default EDFC Project; Formed, cut & glued

The plastic was then cut and glued to what remained of the factory plastic housing. You can see the plastic matches the wood form precisely.

Default EDFC Project: Hand cutting & Shaping

You can see how the plastic was rough cut . The edges were then cut and rounded over at the edges by hand.
