I have an 01 IS300 that has a very distinct "clack" in the front brakes.

First I back up and touch the brakes, when I drive forward the first time I touch the brakes I get a clack. Not again till I back up and use the brakes and then hit them again moving forward.

We are the original owners of this car and it has done it since new, at first the dealer said they couldn't repeat the sound. Years latter they were and said they would fix it the next time I do the pads. We are due again finally but >100k and I'll do it my self.

Any thoughts if there is a clip or a updated part for this little annoyance?

I think I found it, the brake pads are moving just a hair. The early cars had a slight change to the clip.

So far the best answer I have found is that there are 2 different part numbers for factory pads. One contains the new style clips. If you have the original clips from new, they clack. Get the pads with the new clips it should fix the problem.

I am on my 3rd set of pads since 0 miles and I guess I will have to wait for my 4th to buy the pads with the updated clips.
