I tried searching to read up on some discussion on this subject.
Over the summer, I installed new Rota SS10 18.9.5's (+38 offset) on my 1999 SC400. I wrapped them in Potenza RE760's (245/40 in the front and 265/35 in the rear). Previously, it was sitting for a while, but I never had the issue that I am getting since the install. I have put on about 4k miles on the car since the new shoes.
Anyways, ever since then, I notice that when going over a decent bump straight, or certain left hand curves that either have a slight incline or decline to them, my passenger side rear sounds like it is bottoming out. To note, the car currently has approximately 104k miles on stock original suspension.
I figured the way to solve this issue would be to get new coilovers, potentially with a slightly higher spring rate than stock. Will this solve my issue? I would like to also lower the car by about an inch, if possible.
Any help would be appreciated, and let me know if you need any more information.

Yes, aftermarket suspension would solve your issue. It sounds like there's just a lot of travel.
I ran these rears when I was stock height
18x9.5 +38 275/35-18
and I would get a slight rub if I had a lot of stuff in the trunk. Getting coils solved everything (and i decreased my lowered my car at least 2 inches

Thanks for the information. I figured that was the issue. I am working on getting some BC Racing or Fortune Auto Coilovers to have it ready for spring driving (despite it currently being 65 degrees here in Jersey in December!).Originally Posted by 1997Soarer
