Default Upper Control Arms - Sewell

Guys,

First post in a while....

I am local to DFW and have had my car into Sewell several time recently to get some gremlins out of the front end of my 1998 GS400. I am also a bit of a Sewell fanboy because I interned there while I was in college back in 1997.

I have done so far:

Engine mounts - both
Transmission mount
Front Struts and caps - both
Front end alignment

Now Sewell are recommending we replace both upper control arms to get the shudder out of the front end going over bumps. My question is this. Since Sewellparts.com is shut down is there a place to get good prices on OEM or equivalent parts? The price they quoted me on both control arms is $1257 for the two arms. They are offering me a goodwill discount to get it down to $1000-ish. I know we used to buy them at $400 each, but I guess those days are gone.

What do you guys suggest?

They called and offered to sell me each side at $419 each. So $840. Not terrible. I hope that OEM is worth 4X the cost of the aftermarket ones.

That's crazy, you could get high end adjustable arms for less than that.

Well I have to give another raving review for Sewell service. They ended up replacing several parts at a deep discount and charged me $0 in labor. This was my third time taking the car to them in an attempt to resolve the problem. In the end, NOTHING beats good service. Customers for life at Sewell.

That's good to hear. I wish they were still giving CL discounts. I loved shopping through them.
