Current tie rod and nut is seized in place, and rack & pnion are leaking everywhere.

Now I am currently replacing both my rack & pinion and Tie Rods. Neither units came with the locking nut for hold the tie rods after alignment is done.

So my question is, what is the thread pitch? I cross referrenced to the MK4 and have come up with 14MM P1.5 assuming they have the same size.

Can anyone confirm? Need positive answers.

 

yes 14x1.5 on the tie rods.

I went through 5 different store's and only Ace Hardware had it.

surprised ur tie rod didnt come with a nut. i ordered one from autozone and it came with a nylon nut

 

^ are you talking about the outer tie rods? he is talking about the inner tie rods. Not the outers.

 

Both did not come with one.

I bought all items from Advance Auto.

Rack & Pinion came w/ an inner tie rod, and no nut. As the outer tie rod came with a locking nut for the portion that inserts into the brake assembly but no nut to lock the alignment portion.

At one point while searching for the nut, Advance Auto provided info that neither products came with it.
