Time for brakes need help
I've done a lot of research. Car - 2014 350 Fsport awd. Recently hit 22k on the od. New tires went on and an alignment as of Friday. Now in to the brakes.....
I've read some scary reviews about centric / stoptech rotors on the Bmw forums. Personally, I've always run hawk hps pads and loved them in conjunction w oem brembo blanks. Seems like this isn't an option available on our cars.
Options:
Rotors -
blanks
Cryo treated blanks
Slotted
Drilled
Drilled and slotted
Lexus told me not to buy slotted. But I was always told that slotted is better for heat and strength since drilled rotors ( *poorly made ) tend to crack. I've seen ebc rotors but they are pricy.
Brakes -
What else is needed besides the pads. Do I need a shim or hardware kit?
Recommendation for pads:
- stoptech
- akibono
- brembo
- centric post quite
Fsports have vents in front for brakes. So would it be beneficial to do a slotted rotor in the front and a drilled in the rear? Or vice versa? I've always stuff with the same on 4 corners. Really need some options. Dusting isn't an issue for me. My car gets washed weekly by me.
Thanks

it has been discussed over and over again.
Slotted is better for heat under one condition: On the Track.
Not occasional spirited driving on cannon road or on the street.
You won't get the benefit of using slotted rotors other than it will shave your brake pads and dramatically reduce brake pads' life.
