Hey,

Before you read further, keep in mind my vehicle is a 2011 IS250 AWD, stock suspension/wheels/tires.

When I was pulling out of a parking stall today, I cranked my wheel all the way to the left and felt this rhythmic 'wobble' while the wheel was cranked all the way.

The wobble almost feels like someone is giving my car very light 'push' from the side...

I pulled back into the stall (wheel cranked), and didn't feel it as bad... tried reversing again with the wheel cranked, and again there was a very mild wobble. I think I didn't notice the wobble before since the roads aren't THAT perfectly paved here in BC, and you def. wouldn't notice it in city driving...

So I decided to try cranking the wheel to the right, and pulled into the stall - didn't seem to notice it as much... when I reversed, the car did the 'wobble' again....

I thought it was my wheels rubbing, so I cranked the wheel all the way and checked the wells... everything is clear....

Now, I do recall hitting a nasty pothole going about 20-30km/h (Front Left Wheel), and i hit it pretty hard... made a loud thump.... so in a panic I called Lexus and asked if it could be the suspension or the rim being warped. The salesman said that the tire could have sustained damage (something to do with the metal lining inside the tire) which could be causing the wobble, especially if there was a lot of impact.

Called a few tire places, but no answer... so I'm hoping maybe CL can shed some light on this issue...

- Has anyone gone over a big pothole and had problems with their tires / notice any strange 'wobbles' or anything?
- Is there a chance I could have damaged a critical component re. the suspension? Checked the perch, no crack or damages and no leaks were to be found when i cranked the wheel over...

ANY advice or suggestions would be much appreciated.... I just purchased a set of BC BR coils, and hoping I won't cause any more problems if I installed them w/ this wobble issue....

I should also note:

- car drives perfectly straight (as far as i can tell)
- I have never noticed this until now, and the pothole was hit about 2-3 weeks ago.
- The ride is still firm, as it only has 25k on it and there are no signs of deterioration

Perhaps a sign that you've got a CV joint on its way out?

Is there any way I can check for that? The car has 26,000 KMs, and I don't hear any strange noises when I am going forward or in reverse...

Grab a friend, find an empty parking lot, one drive and the other is outside listening. Turn both left and right in a tight radius and listen for clicking or odd sounds.

I took your advice, went into an empty UG parking lot and had a friend listen for clicking or odd sounds, but couldn't hear any... I think I'll just go to the dealership tomorrow to get it sorted out...

I had a very very similar problem like this on my IS250 F Sport 2012 car that has similar miles like yours too.

It runs perfectly straight, left turn/ right turn. And then when i U-turn, i get this wobble effect very similar to your description. I checked the wheels clearance and there is no problem because it is on stock height with stock rims. There is also no clicking, no noise, no vibration, no problem except this stupid wobble effect only happen when crack it all the way to the left especially at U-Turn.

I suspect it is the tires because the left front tire have 2 punctures before and now both front tires have little tread left. I have bought all 4 tires to replace now and hopefully no more wobble effect.

Got it checked out, and apparently this is normal for AWD systems. I've copied what they put as the description, verbatim:

Condition: When turning in a parking lot and turning full left or right the car has a rhythmic sway. OK on highway and straight. tires and wheels OK.

Correction: Tight turn chatter is normal for this all wheel drive model. This is caused by front wheels turning at different speeds than rear through transfer case.

Hmm, My car is RWD and has similar problem like this too. It will be interesting if you can tell them this and see what they will say.

Btw, I feel this also when making a U turn, I figured it may be the low profile tires or because it's a rear wheel drive vehicle? I drive a 2010 is350, this is my first RWD

I thought I was going crazy but I have a similar experience with my 2011 rear wheel drive IS 250 F Sport. It only happens when back out of my garage at a very low speed. I can't figure out what it can be. Did anyone have the dealer look at it?

did you ever get this resolved? I'm taking my car in this week and may just avoid the $100 diagnostic fee if it's really nothing. Mine's on my 2013 GS 350 F Sport
