You need the 4 pot calipers from a 95-00 LS400. Those will bolt up but is what you have in your car right now. Send them back.

I've seen mention of harder pedal effort with the LS400 brakes. I got lucky and found a clean 95 LS400 today and pulled the front calipers/rotors. I got the rear calipers but couldn't get the rear rotors off. The emergency brake wouldn't release.

I also pulled the master and booster. the booster was still holding vacuum.

So the question:

Should I swap the master/booster along with all the calipers etc to retain a reduced effort pedal?

Both cars I've done the LS swap on ended up with a softer pedal feel, not harder.

good to know, sounds like doing a master/booster swap is unnecessary.

any thoughts on swapping the LS rear calipers/rotors? I notice a slight difference in the calipers. I'll post a pic to illustrate later today. Mostly I'm thinking of swapping because the LS rears are in much better condition.

I was under the impression that the rears are the same on the LS and SC.

I don't think the rears will fit. Plus there is no reason to from a braking standpoint.

The LS rears are aluminum versus the Sc which are steel. Other than that they look to be very similar.

Ditto. If they're compatible and they're aluminum, they're worthwhile for the weight savings even if braking power is the same. I'd never heard that they are aluminum, but I suppose I've never looked at the back wheels of a LS to check... I know of a couple '95+ cars at the junkyard I can take a peek at.

Any update on this? I did look at a set of LS calipers at the junkyard this week and they're definitely aluminum. The wheels were still on, so I couldn't get a good view of the mounting.

did a quick fit test, short answer is no direct swap on the rears.

Longer answer is I think they will if the pad carrier is swapped, using the SC carrier on the LS caliper.

I'm working on other stuff first but will post in a few days when I get back to it.

confirmed. LS400 aluminum rear calipers will fit onto SC rears, provided you use the SC pad holders. Fits on either SC or LS rear rotors. Pads seem to be interchangeable between LS and SC also

Since the only significant difference is LS are aluminum, versus SC being steel (possibly piston diameter also but I'll leave that for others to figure, I've got wrenching to do). Both are single piston. The only reason I'm doing it is because I have them, and plan on selling my red Lexus label SC brakes as a set and should include the matching rears.

Now i have to blast/paint, the scrap yard SC pad holders and service the slides. Will it ever end?

Oh and one other toungue in cheek comment. I'm new to SC's having owned this one for only a few months. How is it this isn't old news?
