Default Wilwood 6-piston brake setup UPDATE (12/05/02)

Hey Guys, I know a few of you have the money burning a hole in your pockets for this upgrade...I just wanted to give a little update...

Other mods, please leave here for a few days...

Ok, well there were some delays with obtaining the rotor. Let me tell ya, these rotors are MASSIVE.

Here is a picture of the test fitting we did...as you can see, the rotor's area is much larger than in that other photo. This is the rotor that will be in the kit but it will be cross drilled and slotted much like the other rotors from the older post. All cross drilled holes will be chamfered.

Anyways, at this point, we are fine tuning the bracket. Perfection is the only option. We should be ready to do testing this month and we are looking at a mid to late Jan.2003 ship date...

wow now that's one big rotor. but my question is.... that would still fit the 17" wheels? i thought anything larger than 13.5" in diameter would be over the inner diameter of the stock 17" wheel? at least on my ap racing that's VERY close already

but it's looking very good man

13.5" will not fit...that's why we're doing 13" rotors. From our intial findings, we had fit 17" wheels w/o a spacer but with the new setup, we might need to use a small (5mm or less) spacer which we will include in the kit if necessary. You would only need the spacer (if we need to use one) if your aftermarket wheel doesn't fit or you need to use your stock wheels.

The reason for the change is the due to the rotor being thicker than what we originally used. We can not get it any closer to the steering knuckle. However, until we finalize the bracket, I can not say for sure if the stock 17's will fit w/o a spacer.

No matter what, we will make sure the buyers will get what they need to run the stock wheels. Remember, I am going to use this system on my SC400 (and possibly my GS430 later on) so I will not accept some half-*** kit!

I can't wait to get these on! Every time I drive my SC I wish that I had the big brake already...man, after having the AP setup on my GS430, I HATE stock brakes...

Manaray,

Looking good so far. Looking forward to see the rotors with the slots and cross drill. So, what is the thickness of the new rotor? Did you get a chance to test the prototype at a track as we discussed?

Hey, BTW, I found the EBC greenstuff pads that fit our AP setup. Just got it installed. I'll tell you how they are after they break-in. Thay also make redstuff in our size.

Calvin, that's good to hear! Let me know what you think of them!

The new rotor is 32mm thick. I still haven't be able to track it yet...we're hoping to get one done soon so I can get it on the track..
