Buying used Tom's Coil Suspension good idea?
Hi,
I am new to this forum. I just got me a GS300 from 98 and am now looking for a way to improve the handling of the car without loosing comfort.
A shop is selling used Tom's Coil Suspension for about US$500. Is this a good deal or should I go for Lower springs only (e.g. Esperil, HKS, ...), or should I just save a bit longer and go for something else?

i am with Richie on this..unless you know the last owner...
but, in this case, $500 is worth to give it a try, imho...
if you opt for springs, consider Espelir, Kg/mm(DR 21 supersport)..both good drop and comfy...make sure to get good shocks like KYB or Bilsteins...
not sure if you can get good price on new coils, the bilsteins PSS ysystme is excellent at $900 USD..
btw, are you from HK?

wow you from hong kong?! but now you are in the US right? i am from hong kong too welcome
anyway, i am not fond of used coilover too. 500 sounds good though, considering that a set of new tom's coilover is sky high at like 3 grands? seriously why are they soo expensive? what's really that good about them?

I gotta agree, the TOM's coilovers are a bit pricey...but then again, they're not like Tein where they make nothing but coilovers (and springs)....the TOM'S coilovers are very, very nice though...but I too could not justify the price difference.

I can not comment on the lifespan since I don't know anyone who's had them long enough...also, since it's used, I don't know what it's been through already...it might have wrecked on as far as I know...just take a look at them...look for oil leaks, look for bent parts...if they look good, then they should be ok...

I would probably say jump on this deal. You can get them overhauled by Tom's if something is wrong. Or get them checked out by them at least.
Tom's aint close to being 3 grand, just a tad over 2 grand.
